eeearrrghhh.
there's a nagging spot that it's damn irritating.
and i cant seem to get at it.
gahhhhh!!!

blogger is really a pain today. not sure if this post will be put up or not. so anyway...
feeling rather like a good hair day today and started playing with my hair and cam-whoring of course. :P

hehe

sasa will kill me for the top left pic. heheheh. well of course the bottom right is more me :X

top right - was trying to show the braid i did at the back that goes from my right to left. this photo is incredibly hard to take. my right hand is holding the mirror and left is taking the pic. yikes.

bluff people one...

i was in need for some relaxation..
couldnt think of any 'innovative' ideas for design..
so i took a break down to Tai Yuen Street in WanChai ( it's in HK island)
apparently, it's the supposed toy district, where they sell toys of all kinds..
toys as in 玩具.. vinyl characters and the like.

but noooOOO!!! crap. it was just like a bazaar with things of all kinds!!
shoes, cloth, umbrellas, halloween costumes, jewellery, clothes, slowly transiting to meat and vegetables..
bluff people wan!!! stupid website must be outdated..
boohoo.. there goes my search for toys. -_-"""
anyway i took a shot of tai yuen street aka the bluff pple street.

it's just like mongkok except this is the mini version!! blehhh >:X

hmm i saw some "ed hardy" skeleton caps. hehehe. wondered if i ought to buy some and sell them online. hehehehehhehe but no of course i didnt :P

oh and i finally trimmed down / plucked ( pain like hell!!!) my drastic eyebrows. my eyebrows feel numb. they're not that perfect, but an improvement from the last time. ouch. i'd rather sit in the indian clementi auntie's chair for 10 mins and pay her $5 rather than diy. i shall do that when i come back. :D

dedicated to my loved ones...

what i first drew...
which inspired me to draw this next...

such a smiley little doggie *woof*

i can't draw humans.

i was just perusing some arty-farty blog-shops..
self-made artists selling their works and keeping people interested with their blogs and life as well..
and this lady has the most beautiful work i've ever seen.
well not that i've seen lots of works. but i tingled when i saw her art works.

i was like "wow, she's got all the proportions and emotions really well!!"
the facial features are really detailed and i was amazed.

which got me thinking.. maybe i should try drawing some humans in my little sketch book.
i got to the face.. and started on the body.. and it got pretty drastic after that.
even the human faces are scary!!!

then i went on to drawing little animals and make-believe creatures.
which went pretty good after that.
but they were pretty cutesy stuff. no serious nor emotional kind of work..
i guess i'm just not cut out for serious drawings -_-""
sigh..

happie birthday to meeeee~~

heeheeheee..
i had a lovely surprise as i went back to my room at 3 AM this morning.. u read that right. haha was rushing a project submission.
anyway.. sitting on my table was a pink paper bag that screamed "MonChoCho"!!! hahaa ( that was the brand we made up during our marketing module last semester)

hurhur.. and!!! my roomie got me 2 presents!! wow!!! i was surprised she even knew my birthday. guess when i filled out the orientation form she had a peek at it or something.. :P

and she got me this!!

this screams cuteness.. ahahahah it's a timed rubber duckie toothbrush.. so press the button at the bottom and it flashes red for a minute!! but i suspect it's for little kids.. hahah :P the duck seems rather hypnotic when it's flashing..

she got me a scarf too!!! awww so sweeet :P it's super long.. haha and some silly pics of me with it.. not too fond of the stretchy ends that look rather odd. but the heck with it! it's so soft and fluffy. eheheheheh...

bottom right - pretending to be a pageant participant :P

check it out man!!! hahahaha :X

anyway went to Festival Walk after studio today.. so.... i treated myself withhhhh.....

Ben and Jerry's!!! strawberry shortcake / cheesecake version!! wooo!!! i love sticky ice cream :P

i remember norm posting sometime back that he loved this flavour so i decided to try this out! :P wahhh~~~ i was a happy bunny :D like a little girl with a balloon.. hehehe

and as usual, i missed the 'official' time for my birthday again. i think it's been 5 years since i've tried but failed to keep track of the time i was born and usually by the time i look at the watch, i'm 2 hours late -_-""

hahahah toodles!!!

i shall be thick-skinned...

it's my birthday today!!! hehehe.... 22 years ago.. at 1932 hours, a chubby-cheeked baby was born..
unfortunately.. 22 years later.. the chubby cheeks still remain.. luckily it has stopped being a source of pleasure for cheek-pinching / cheek-grabbing sharp fingernailed aunties..
hehehe (*",*)

yay! so i'm heading off to relax after school now.. which means shopping!!
well.. window shopping of course. hehehe
tata!!! :D

but i'll try to update as much as possible..
here's a sketch of hunfry and the lion (still not yet named) while on a bumpy train ride to guangzhou :P

the squiggles are unintentional. it just shows how 'stable' the train was. hehe. and that's how the interior of the train really looks like :P

till later!!! *miao*

Hunfry and his Laundry

Hunfry the curly haired toy was angry.

The night before, Hunfry went off to bed, with his laundry hanging out to dry on the rooftop.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
Little did Hunfry know that it rained early in the wee hours of the morning.

And Hunfry woke up to his shock that his clothes were wet.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Hunfry was a sad little boy. He was so sad his curls wanted to straighten out.

But Hunfry was an optimistic toy, and hung out his clothes to dry again.

But Hunfry was annoyed once again when little mad sprites went chanting out in the streets, banging their gongs and making lots of noise.

Even Squeek the squirrel could not bear with the noise.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Poor Hunfry. What a day he's had.

of religion.

(the following post is purely based on the analysis of the author.)

ugh. i have never seen a more narrow-minded documentary by Richard Dawkins from (i think) Oxford.
there's 2 parts to it, so watch it if u have time..

so anyways, he's out to prove that science and religion does not exist hand in hand, and basically, if one exists, the other must cease to exist.
and another theory of his is that religion = root of evil

i think basically his argument's rather scanty. his argument says that because of fundamentalists from the various religious groups, be they christian or muslim or whatever, that terrorism / various acts of violence of terror does occur - so religion is bad. -_-""

i took some notes down while watching the show cos i was so darn agitated. here's my take on the whole thingamajig.
credits to missizzy.org for the link :)

Dawkins constantly insults / barrages us with derogatory terms..
"complete utter nonsense" "bullocks" etc, whatever u might expect from a Brit.
so anyway his first statement that goes along the line of "each Catholic has the same delusion of having a religion, which is reinforced when everyone has the same delusion" meaning to say when catholics gather and pray / mass/ whatever, that seeing everyone else has the same belief as them, whether that belief is right or wrong (which Dawkins believes) that they'd continue living with their delusion 0_o""""

oh come on!!!
and he goes on to say that 'religion is false hope' - he takes the example of believers bathing in the lake of holy water /drinking it, etc, somewhere in France (i presume). so he questioned the logic of miracles, the statistical number of people that actually get cured - which is a measley 66 out of 1 million pple who try to get cured.

so Dawkins IMMEDIATELY pronounces that this is statistically misleading that miracles do happen. yes i agree on that terms, but he totally DISREGARDED the actual number of people who have received miracles all over the world. like seriously. drinking holy water is not the only way / place to get cured. maybe if he had substantiated his argument furthur it would have helped instead of embarrassed him. hogwash.

next, Dawkins goes on to define the meaning of science vs. religion. science - which he indulges in - is basically the questioning of logic and being skeptical. religion - the positive supression of critical hypothesis. -__-"" which i think he defined himself to help his argument.

the thing i feel is that he sorta targetted the Catholic community cos not only is it the most how to say.. OBVIOUS choice, but also cos it's got a hugely popular / famous load of debatable topics that have been going on for centuries. so which means it's in his favour to undermine the meaning of religion!

he goes on to say that religion actually is created by man and man alone by giving the example of the assumption of mary - that is to say that mary's body was brought up to heaven when her time on earth was up and didnt actually die. However, only 6 centuries after Jesus' death was this popularised and after that the Pope of that time declared it to be the truth as he 'received the word from God'. meaning to say that because of such vague evidence of the assumption of mary that 'faith', 'christianity', etc are utter rubbish.
i'd say his argument is rather weak yah? i'd explain myself later.

later on in the show, he goes to substantiate evolution and charles darwin etc, and asked "who is the designer" - who is the designer of life on earth? well since there isnt a concrete answer, evolution must be the key to life on earth and bacteria was the first form of life on earth and God is no God. it's really a chicken and egg story to me. well then, mr dawkin, who designed the bacteria if u say there's no designer?? -_-""""

so that's what i scribbled down, cos the show became rather comedic and boring to me
he seemed to insult / infuriate whoever he interviewed, especially with his lack of tact and really upfront frankness. you're dealing with religion here, and it's not very wise to include everyday brit expressions with rabbis, priests, pastors, etc.

"dont u think that whatever you're teaching the children is absoultely irrelevant, ... utter rubbish!!" - the rabbi's expression immediately changed from geniality to insult / disgust. i was extremely shocked that he was so rude.

he interviewed a pastor from usa somewhere i forgot and i must admit i was rather pissed with the pastor too cos he seemed too proud as well. well mr pastor thought dawkins was intellectually arrogant (agree) and they seemed to be bickering and inserting more and more insults to one another. well mr pastor was annoying to the fact that he said "..... be a great man like me!" 0_o"""""
man.
u do not preach to someone else that u are great. it just shows you're not. ( i forgot which verse in the passage says that) and another thing, you do not chase people away from the church - who basically are curious about religion after all.

so anyway, like a true scientist, dawkins puts up hypothesis, finds the correct evidence to back up his claim, and pronounces his hypo true. maybe he should have counterargued and substantiated his claim even furthur and not make his documentary so flaky. it was seriously rather annoying to watch the whole show and he possibly has made more enemies than friends during the whole production process.

well then, if someone would come up with another documentary and prove his whole diva-documentary false, then i'd say yay! and mr dawkins, like a true scientist, would admit flawed hypo :) (as stated in his documentary that his teacher once did that. i suppose the student would follow his teacher too)

i do admit that i cannot answer his questions properly since i have many on my own and that i do not know enough to make my own argument. but somehow i think that if u wish to make ur 'fundamental beliefs' and broadcast it to the whole world, please. do some more research before proclaiming you've got the answer.

there. whew! i feel a bit more happy now :D

Macanese delight~

yay!!! visited Macau on the 14th for some site study for the undergrads and Karin and I tagged along :P (i'm considered masters year for studio :X cos there's no year 4 course here)
the best thing was that the school subsidized half the cost!! so in fact i only paid for less than the cost of a ferry ride to Macau~~~ :D

the boat ride was an hour's journey.. it was a big ferry so not anything like the little speedboats i get on for FOUR hours to Pulau Aur :P

Along the way, there were little islands .. and the Macau bridge!! of course it's by some other name. haha.. but i'm wayyy to lazy to find out :P it's heaps lovely, it isnt horizontal like most bridges i've seen..

The side of the facade that no postcard / website / magazine ever shows. hahahahhahaha so it REALLY is just a facade. ack. well for the real one, pls go search it out somewhere.. i is lazy. hehehehehhehehe. or i might just post it up one day..

some little tiger thingy sticking out at the front of the facade.. heehee.. btw it's called the ruins of st. paul or something like that. so go ahead and google it :P

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

onward we go!! and into the little narrow streets.. really is rather narrow. but it's got the little town / community feel to it, like where everyone would know each other sooner or later.. Karin's to the left of the pic.. she's a Swedish exchange student and she's seriously taking an opportunity to tour the world!! she's already been to europe and thereabouts. she's gg to japan after this!! eeks!!

the wonderfully pebbled/ tiled streets.. makes me feel the Macanese really love their town.. hehe but this is really the oldest part of macau.. it's the UNESCO site leh!!!

looking up where pple stay in birdcages. hehehe. well almost literally. so the undergrads went about hunting for their site to build on, and we tagged along.. with really lovely old sights and sounds and SMELLS..

hehehe took a sneeky picture of Shinya and wah!!! very magazine pose can!! hahahaha..yes.. he's ALWAYS wearing black. typical architect. haha. but he has a theory behind it.. because being an architect, u're neither white collar nor blue collar. u gotta go to the site, u gotta meet clients.

so what else can u do? wear black. so the dirt / sweat wouldnt easily show on ur clothes and u always look presentable in black. -_0""" ok......

so anyway, in Macau basically the pace of life is rather slow ( in the old area).. felt as if i went back in time to the 60s.. and we had lunch!!!!

some tofu noodles. well. it's not really made of tofu. just that the shop is really famous for it's tofu. and it sells noodles as well -_-"""

greedy ol' me had noodles with a chicken wing and wanton.. yummies!!!!!! had heap loads of prawns. machiam free like that. hahahah and the EXTREMELY WONDERFUL tofu beancurd. wah!!!! they call it "to fu fa" or "tofu flower".. it's got the hot / cold version and i got the cold one.

it was SILKY.. silkier than all the other tofu beancurds i've ever tried. really the best man. i was soo tempted to have another bowl. hehehe. it was sweet but not too sweet and LITERALLY melted in my mouth.. OooOOOooOoOoOO

the lady is the owner.. didnt manage to take her pic of her present age.. 80-90 now 0_o""" and to think she started from a humble roadside stall!! i think she also looks like my paternal grandma - mummy / sasa horrrrr..

so after lunch, we headed down to some super-rich-man's-house-that-has-been-preserved. it's called.. something something.. errr. yes i am horrible at giving details and now really too lazy to check it out. heheheh..

check out the mother of pearl windows. so cool huh? it actually acts as a translucent barrier of light. ooOOoOooOOo~~

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

it's basically like a peranakan shophouse in sg. just that it's several combined like a bungalow.. details are really similar. well. since the peranakans have chinese background as well..

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

the really "akitekture" shot that i took. heheheheh.

walked ard Macau for a bit, after a lecture we had... and Shinya pointed out this art noveau house that is apparently the distinct architecture of macau.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

well. just seems like the typical rojak building with a garish colour.

so anyways.. after more walking and sightseeing (not ur typical touristy sights), we went for dinner!!!! portugese food~~~ wooo~~~~

thanks to the lovely studiomates who recommended this place :P

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

they ordered (or rather Thomas did) loads of fried rice.. 5 types!!! well portugese food is bascially tomato-ey, milky, seafoody, soupy-stewy.. and NICE!!!!! hehehehe.. the little squid i found in the fried rice is sooo cute!!!! heheeh so mojojojo..

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

well this is taken from a square in the old city area.. it's become a shopping area.. something to the likes of Bugis minus the fake glass roof.. hahah.. colours are rather distorted cos of a special function in my camera :P

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

sigh. this never fails to pull my heart strings. so many of these lonely old pple around. the old man in particular was just staring at people in the square, laughing at their own jokes and totally oblivious to him.. even tho he was like just 2 metres away STARING. and he smelt of pee and dirt :( his trolley basically had rubbish. like no metal cans, no newspaper, just rubbish. :(

another little old lady (she was at my shoulder height!! and i'm already small -_-) was walking REALLY wide eyed. really saucer wide eyes. 1 step 2 steps, STARE look around. 1 step 2 steps, STARE look around. yikes!!! it's as if she's trekking precariously thru the unexplored congo forest. but really wished i could talk to her and help her....

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

how she really looked like to me. except she looks in her 90s. and even more frail than i've drawn her.

another old man was just sitting at the steps of the entrance.. *BAWLLLLL* sighhhh..

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

top left: well me of course. -_-

top right : an unflattering shot of Carrie and Janice always ready for a candid shot. hahaha

bottom right : Thomas and Ruth bottoms up! nahhh it's just plain water. heheh

bottom left: both shots of me were taken in the ferry where i was incredibly bored. :X

well.. now that i've seen macau.. a different route taken from the everyday tourist.. it's got a really interesting urban character.. like the little crooked man in the little crooked street in the little crooked house....

and the Macanese (macau pple) are really something like singapore! so rojak. like how a chinese can have so many different looks and some even resemble malays / mixed blood, filipino, etc. and no matter how they look, they always speak the language (canto or even portugese!! - which sounds rather like spanish)

hmm but the main images that keep popping up in my mind are the old people. sighhhh. i am such a softie.

Hunfry and his little Adventures

inspired by one of my good friends, hehehe who made a typo error in my msn chat window, i have created a new character called Hunfry.
i'm sure u can guess the typo :P so Hunfry was created, and his many adventures would be inspired from this friend of mine :PPP
enjoy~~~

Hunfry and his Chair

Hunfry, the curly haired toy was bored at home.
So he sat down on his chair, which he named Pastille.
It was a good chair. It was comfortable and he could rock in it.
So he brought out his chair on a little magical adventure into the lake.
He sat in his chair and brought out a little oar.
Hunfry rowed and rowed and rowed, till he was out in the middle of the lake.
He brought out his fishing rod and caught some fish!
But Hunfry loved animals and set the fish free.
Hunfry became tired and rowed back home in his little pastille chair.
Hunfry came back home, and slept in his little chair, dreaming sweet dreams about the lake, and the little fishies he saw today.

Hunfry and Chicken Rice

Hunfry and chicken rice.
Hunfry the little curly haired toy, was hungry.
So he sat at his little computer, searching for wonderful recipes.
He saw ‘chicken rice’ and was happy.
Hunfry followed the recipe and he was happy.
Hunfry invited his little friends for dinner and they had a wonderful feast.
Hunfry and his little friends were very full.
They sat in their pastille chairs and were very happy, rubbing their tummies as they sat by the fire.

Hunfry the dirty little toy

Hunfry the curly haired toy was a dirty little boy.
he had flies buzzing around him all the time, and he dragged his dirrty little teddy bear wherever he went.
he also had his thumb in his mouth

Hunfry and his beer

Hunfry the little curly haired toy went out for beers with his little friends.

Hunfry was a BAD toy. he couldnt drink beer cos he has an allergy to it, but he drank it anway. Hunfry drank and drank till he was red in the face.

Hunfry the bad little toy was quite giddy after 2 tall glasses of beer, and his little friends had to help hunfry back to his room.

Hunfry and his Picnic

One day, Hunfry the curly haired toy was out in the streets with his little friends out on a cold chilly day.
So Hunfry brought out some coats so all of them would be warm and toasty.

All his little friends thanked him and they went by the river and set up their little picnic mats.
They brought out their little electric stove and toasted some marshmallows on sticks.
They were as happy as pricks, warm and toasty with their coats, with their soft and gooey marshmallows.

Then a little squirrel joined them for tea.

*Squeek* and they gave the bushy-tailed squirrel some of their marshmallows.

Hunfry was very happy.
So were his little friends.

i realise i need a massage.
i'm subconsciously clenching my jaws all the time :X
yikes!!!!
and i cant find my white seal tom-tom- tom- massager!!!! (it's actually a stuffed seal on a wooden stick)

:(((((

can someone book them a room pls?

yuk. damn disgusting.
was waiting for the shuttle bus.. when this couple from c.r.p. (u'd know what i mean if u're smart enough) were beside me. and somehow i turned and looked to my right,
when i saw the guy groping and squeezing her boob lah!!!!!

it was like he was squeezing a plastic bag of soy bean milk that kinda thing.
yetchhhhh
and to add to the effect, here's a little sketch of their 'position'.

yah the girl was slightly bent over cos she was (i'd presume) tired. when the guy started like 'massaging' her back and somehow ventured to her boobs. -_-""""

gave him an ugly oval head to add to the effect of how disgusted i am / was.

wah piang!!! I IS VERY DISGUSTEDS!!!

yukkkkkkkk. if u wanna do this kinda thing, can wait till you're in a more private location can!?!?! wtffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

enuff said. my negative image of them has time and time again been reinforced with their behaviour.

of moons and such...

yesterday was midautumn festival and silly 'ol me didnt realise that and headed down to kowloon tong / festival walk. of which 50% or rather 70% of the shops were closed. -_-"""
but luckily a huge designer homeware store and page one (big kino-sized bookstore) were open and i really got a kick out of all the design stuff that were shouting out at me.. :P

here's the moon i took today.. yay!! it turned out really well and i balanced the camera at it's corner :P even got little orbs of light ard it..

yuk.. apologies for the banding.. was playing ard with the manual mode again.. this time in black and white.. :P

my really really yellow bed which includes my yellow moomin.. hahahah!!! it was such a surprise that the bedsheets the hostel provided for exchange students were the same as my existing ones and alsos matched the colour of the moomin i had...
i have TWO comforters.. extra one for winter.. which i keep at the head of the bed wrapped up in my own bedsheet.. plus my cheery sheep pillow case :P

bleh.
dont know what to describe here.
just that on this side of my face, i have like 5 visible moles. -_-"""""""
happy squinting.

edit:- make that 6.

i think i may have a photographic memory!!
went to causeway bay and it's rather disorienting cos there's loads of people and the streets arent exactly grid-like
but i managed to find my way to a specific place just based on what i remembered last week!
yay! and walked the exact same route on my way back.
never done that before cos i'm usually walking blindly with norman by my side :X

yay!!
hehe.. i am such a show-off :X

handbags and gladrags

sigh.. been thinking of the poor beggers on the streets i've seen..
the granny bowing down..
the terribly burnt (scarred) legless boy..
the old man (showing off) his horrible wound on the leg....
the old man flat on the floor..

oh my..
:..(
did the old man specially take advantage that he was injured.. so that pple could take pity on him?
or specially peel off his scabs before they could dry / heal properly so that he'd look more miserable?
or was it just that cos he's old and takes sooo long to heal.
i dunno. but it has a huge cringe factor.

and i cant help but feel sorry for them. esp when loads of pple walk past them. and practically take no notice of them. indifferent.
a lady beside me was rather queasy abt his injuries..but that was it. cos she was more abt dealing with her discomfort.

asked a few friends abt their plight. and they said they don't have to go to such an extent since the govt already provides welfare.
but how much welfare is provided anyway?!

ugh. i'm such a softie.
i wish i could help them.
but not yet. :(
what can i do now????
i can only pray.. :..(

was walking on a overhead bridge twds festival walk
when i heard someone playing an erhu..
it wasnt very professional.. but somehow it came across as very touching.. and sad...
it gave me goosebumps..
so i took out a coin and put it in his music case.. and the face i looked up to had deep emotions that i could not decipher.. :(
it now remains as a picture in my memory..
it was such a big contrast to the professional cello and pianist in the shopping ctr.
musically perfect. yet. i didnt feel that much intense emotion as i did for the man on the bridge.

the old lady reminded me of my late grandma..
deep wrinkles showing all the hardship she's had etched in her face.
kowtowing, abandoning whatever pride she had..
to sustain the price of her daily meals. possibly for more expenses she could not afford..

the little boy. possibly 14 years old. sitting in the middle of the road.
of the horrible scars on his head and back and legs..
looked like burn marks from a fire / hot oil.
flashes of what might have happened to him.
the silence of his suffering as he sat there on the road.
:'(

the faceless old man as he lay facefront along the sidewalk.
both legs amputated at the knees.
throngs of pple walk past him.
yet just smirks / shock that quickly fade away..
:..(

maybe i'm thinking too much.
but isnt it quite how to say.. scary? that this is how people react?
i think they're used to such sights.
but then again.. we're all brothers and sisters in this world together..
gahhh having such trouble trying to describe what i'm feeling..
boo.

i is tireds

when i'm supposed to work and feeling extremely mang zhan, i take pics.. hehehhehe

bottom right : how i'm actually feeling when i'm doing work.. >:(

yes.. i'm plugged on to my lovely collection of songs~ plus many movies.. i actually listened to 'howl's moving castle' for 2 hours plus while doing work.. hehehehe. sometimes songs can be quite tiring eh..

neck ache, back ache, shoulder ache, head ache.. wah!!!!! i can't wait for this week to be over!!

Sunday, October 01, 2006

this has been my second home for the past 2 weeks..
this was taken at 1230am. when it was completely empty..
eeks! i got scared and went back home :X
